How Fast Is a Sur-Ron in 2026? Top Speeds for Every Model

Short answer: the 2026 Hyper Bee does 40 mph, the 2026 Light Bee X does 50 mph and the 2026 Ultra Bee HP X does 68 mph. All three are off-road only in stock form, so those speeds belong on private land and at tracks, never on a public road.

The question we hear most in the shop is simple: how fast is a Sur-Ron 2026 bike, and is it quicker than last year's? Below are the real figures, and what quietly robs you of a few mph.

How fast is a Sur-Ron 2026 model? The three top speeds

Here is the whole range, using the manufacturer figures for the 2026 bikes we sell.

Model Top speed Peak power
Hyper Bee 40 mph (65 km/h) 8 kW
Light Bee X 50 mph (80 km/h) 10 kW
Ultra Bee HP X 68 mph (110 km/h) 24.5 kW Turbo

A 40 mph bike on a rutted woodland trail feels far faster than a 68 mph bike on an open field, so read these alongside the acceleration figures rather than on their own. We covered the wider picture in our rundown of what changed across the 2026 Sur-Ron range.

Hyper Bee: 40 mph with a safety net built in

The Hyper Bee is the small one, and 40 mph is plenty when the bike weighs 39 kg. It gets there quickly too: 0 to 31 mph takes 2.59 seconds, which is the bit a younger rider actually notices.

  • SAWC anti-wheelie. Three levels plus off, and it keeps the front wheel down rather than helping it up. That is the opposite of the system on the bigger bikes, and it is why parents keep picking this one.
  • Parental remote. Intercom plus one-touch emergency power-off, up to 300 m range, so you can cut the power from where you stand.
  • Wrist-strap kill switch. Magnetic, so if the rider parts company with the bike, the bike stops.

The electronics get pulled apart in our 2026 Hyper Bee SAWC and T-Box guide, and the Hyper Bee product page lists the colours. Prices start at £2,499 at the time of writing.

Light Bee X: 50 mph and the sensible middle

The Light Bee X is the bike most UK riders end up on, and 50 mph is the number that makes it work. Peak power is 10 kW, torque is 295 Nm at the wheel, and 0 to 31 mph takes 2.5 seconds. Kerb weight is 59 kg, so it still feels like a bicycle you can throw around rather than a motorbike you wrestle.

Two modes do the work. E (Eco) softens everything for tight trails and stretches the battery. S (Sport) gives you the full 50 mph. Three throttle levels let you soften the response for a nervous first hour. SWC wheelie assist has two levels plus off, and Sur-Ron says to switch it off before you start jumping.

The full update list sits in our 2026 Light Bee X changes explained piece, and the Light Bee X product page has current colours. Prices start from £3,199 at the time of writing.

Ultra Bee HP X: 68 mph, and the fastest thing we sell

The Ultra Bee HP X is a different animal. Peak power is 24.5 kW in Turbo, torque is 520 Nm at the wheel, and top speed is 68 mph. It hits 31 mph in 1.84 seconds and 50 mph in 3.7 seconds.

Six modes let you shrink the bike when you need to: Eco, Daily, Sport, Crawl, Reverse and Turbo. Kerb weight is 88.5 kg and seat height is 910 mm, so it asks more of the rider than the other two. Our honest Ultra Bee HP X review is worth ten minutes before you commit, and the Ultra Bee HP X product page has prices, which start at £5,599 at the time of writing.

What actually changes your real top speed?

Nobody hits the headline figure every time, and that is normal. Here is what moves the needle.

  • Rider weight and kit. A 100 kg rider in full armour sees a lower peak than a 65 kg rider in a jersey. Physics does not negotiate.
  • Surface and gradient. Grass, mud and sand soak up speed. Firm gravel is where you see the best numbers.
  • Battery state of charge. Voltage sags as the pack empties, so the last quarter is never as punchy as the first. Same reason your real world range lands under the quoted figure.
  • Tyres and pressures. Soft knobblies grip beautifully and cost you top end, as we cover in our guide to tyres, grip and pressures.
  • Mode and throttle level. Riders forget they left the bike in Eco on throttle level one. Check before you blame the bike.
  • Wind and temperature. A cold pack and a headwind can knock several mph off a Light Bee X.

Chasing more with sprockets, controllers or unlocked firmware comes up a lot. Some of it affects your cover, which we set out in which mods void your warranty.

Where can you legally use that speed?

This part matters more than the numbers. The Light Bee X, Hyper Bee and Ultra Bee HP X are all off-road only in stock form and are not type-approved for UK public roads. That means private land with the landowner's permission, or a track or centre that welcomes electric bikes. A separate restricted L1e moped version of the Light Bee X does exist, so get in touch if road use is what you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast is a Sur-Ron Light Bee X in 2026?

The 2026 Light Bee X tops out at 50 mph, or 80 km/h, in Sport mode with a fully charged 72V 35Ah battery. In Eco mode it is deliberately slower to save charge.

Which Sur-Ron is the fastest?

The Ultra Bee HP X, at 68 mph. It is also the quickest off the line, hitting 31 mph in 1.84 seconds thanks to 24.5 kW in Turbo mode.

Can you make a Sur-Ron go faster than its top speed?

People do, with gearing changes and aftermarket parts, but it loads the drivetrain and battery and can affect your warranty cover. Ride the stock bike for a season first.

Is 40 mph fast enough for a beginner?

For most new and younger riders, yes. The Hyper Bee's 40 mph on a 39 kg bike feels quick on a trail, and the SAWC levels plus the parental remote let you build up at a sensible pace.

The Hyper Bee, Light Bee X and Ultra Bee HP X are off-road only in stock form and are not type-approved for public roads. A restricted L1e version of the Light Bee X exists, so drop us a message if road use is what you need.
