2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee: SAWC, T-Box and the 8kW Upgrade

Sur-Ron comparison poster showing the 2025 to 2026 Hyper Bee upgrades in power, speed and battery

2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee: SAWC, T-Box and the 8kW Upgrade

Short answer: the 2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee moves up to 8 kW peak power and 185 Nm at the wheel, adds a three-level SAWC anti-wheelie system that keeps the front wheel down, and carries T-Box telemetry with a parental remote. It is a rebuild, not a sticker kit.

We run a Sur-Ron dealership, and the Hyper Bee is the bike parents ask us about most. MY26 changes the answer. The old one was a gentle first bike. This one is quicker and cleverer, and the clever bits exist to keep a young rider out of trouble.

What is new on the 2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee?

Sur-Ron rebuilt the platform around a new 8 kW longitudinal motor and a stronger gearbox. Everything else follows: more speed, more grunt, and more electronics to keep it sensible.

  • 8 kW peak power. With 185 Nm of torque at the wheel, through a new high-strength gearbox.
  • 40 mph top speed. That is 65 km/h, and 0 to 31 mph takes 2.59 seconds.
  • 58V 22Ah battery. An S-S Lock quick-release pulls the pack out in about 10 seconds, one handed, no tools.
  • SAWC anti-wheelie control. Three levels (W1, W2, W3) plus off, set from the dashboard or the remote.
  • T-Box telemetry. Remote monitoring, GPS location and settings, plus a multi-function Bluetooth dashboard.
  • Parental remote. Up to 300 m range, an intercom to talk to your rider, and a one-touch emergency power-off.
  • Wrist-strap magnetic kill switch. Clip it to your rider and the motor cuts the moment they come off.
  • Gyroscope tilt protection. Automatic motor cutoff if the bike goes over, so the wheel is not still driving.

Colours are Blue, Green and Yellow, plus a free OEM torque wrench kit with every MY26 bike. Kerb weight is 39 kg, still the Hyper Bee's best trick: a parent can lift it out of a rut alone.

What does SAWC actually do?

SAWC stands for Sur-Ron Anti Wheelie Control, and the important word is anti. A gyroscope reads pitch angle and the controller trims power the moment the front starts to climb. That is the opposite of the SWC wheelie assist on the Light Bee X and Ultra Bee HP X, which helps you lift the front and hold it, a difference we cover in our guide to how Sur-Ron wheelie control works.

Why it matters: 8 kW in a 39 kg bike is a lot of drive for a 10 year old with a fistful of throttle. W3 gives the most intervention and is where we start every new rider. As confidence builds you step down to W2, then W1, then off. One thing we tell them all: switch SAWC off before jumps, because there you want the front to come up. More detail in our post on SAWC and young riders.

What is the T-Box, and do you need the Sur-Ron app?

The T-Box is the bike's connectivity module: remote monitoring, GPS location and settings. It talks to the Bluetooth dashboard, which carries the intercom link to the parental remote and shows speed, mileage, battery, riding mode and fault codes.

One honest limitation. The Sur-Ron phone app is not available on UK-region bikes, so you cannot pair it. That is regional, not a fault, and the T-Box, dashboard and remote all work without it. Better you hear it from us than on unboxing day.

How much difference does 8 kW really make?

More than the number suggests, because the weight did not move. A 39 kg bike with 185 Nm at the wheel gets out of a corner properly, and 40 mph is fast enough that a taller teenager or a lighter adult will not feel short-changed. Rated load is 55 kg, so it is still built around smaller riders.

What is the range, and how does it stop?

Range is up to 35 miles (56 km) at a steady 25 mph, and it charges 20 to 80% in around two hours. Hard riding drains it faster, so a second pack and the 10 second swap is the neat answer. Brakes are dual-piston hydraulics, 180 mm front and 160 mm rear, with 35 mm inverted forks and an adjustable air shock.

Who should buy one, and who should look at a Light Bee X instead?

Seat height adjusts from 665 to 705 mm across three positions, so a shorter rider sits flat-footed and the bike grows with them. If your rider is over 55 kg, or already comfortable at 40 mph, the 50 mph Light Bee X is the better spend, and our three-way 2026 comparison lays the numbers side by side. Unsure on fit? Our sizing guide by height and age sorts it in two minutes.

One thing is not negotiable: the Hyper Bee is off-road only and not type-approved for UK public roads. Private land, tracks, motorsport venues and trail centres with permission. Nowhere else.

What does the 2026 Hyper Bee cost in the UK?

Frequently Asked Questions

What age is the 2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee for?

Sur-Ron design it around riders from age 8 upwards, with seat height adjustable from 665 to 705 mm and a 55 kg rated load. With 8 kW and 40 mph it also suits older teens and lighter adults, and SAWC lets you dial the delivery back until they are ready.

Can you turn SAWC off?

Yes. It runs at W1, W2 or W3, or off, set from the dashboard or the parental remote. We advise turning it off for jumps, where lifting the front is the point.

Is the 2026 Hyper Bee road legal in the UK?

No. It is off-road only and not type-approved for UK public roads, so it needs private land or a permitted venue. A road-legal restricted moped version of the Light Bee X exists as a separate model, so get in touch if that is what you want.

How far does the Hyper Bee go on a charge?

Up to 35 miles (56 km) at a steady 25 mph. Hard riding, mud and a heavier rider cut that down, so treat it as a ceiling. Charging 20 to 80% takes about two hours.

Does the 2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee come with a warranty?

Every bike carries its manufacturer warranty, and you can add extended cover in Silver, Gold or Platinum tiers over one or two extra years. Gold is our default tier.

Come and have a look

For a younger rider's first bike, the MY26 Hyper Bee is the easiest recommendation we have made in a while, mostly for what SAWC and the remote let a parent control. A fuller ride report is in our Hyper Bee starter bike review, and live colours and stock sit on the Sur-Ron Hyper Bee product page or the whole Sur-Ron range. Message us if you want a second opinion on sizing, we would rather talk it through than sell you the wrong bike. Pop in and see one if you are nearby. The kettle is always on.
