Hyper Bee vs Light Bee X vs Ultra Bee HP X: 2026 Compared

Short answer: the Hyper Bee is the light, friendly starter bike, the Light Bee X is the do-everything bestseller, and the Ultra Bee HP X is the big, fast one built for experienced riders. Most people buying their first electric dirt bike land on the Light Bee X, and smaller or younger riders are usually happier on the Hyper Bee.

That is the Sur-Ron comparison 2026 buyers ask us for almost every day. We run a Sur-Ron dealership, so we see all three parked side by side, and the gaps between them are wider than the spec sheets suggest. All three are off-road only in stock form and are not type-approved for UK public roads.

Sur-Ron comparison 2026: the numbers side by side

Start with the five figures that change how a bike feels underneath you.

  • Peak power. Hyper Bee 8 kW, Light Bee X 10 kW, Ultra Bee HP X 24.5 kW in Turbo. The Ultra Bee is not a bit stronger, it is in another class.
  • Torque at the wheel. 185 Nm, 295 Nm and 520 Nm. Torque pulls you up a wet bank, so it matters more than top speed for most UK riding.
  • Top speed. 40 mph, 50 mph and 68 mph, broken down properly in our guide to 2026 Sur-Ron top speeds.
  • Kerb weight. 39 kg, 59 kg and 88.5 kg. Picking a dropped bike out of a rut alone is a very different job at each.
  • Seat height. Hyper Bee 665 to 705 mm across three positions, Light Bee X 830 mm, Ultra Bee HP X 910 mm. Inside leg decides more purchases than power does.

Range follows the same ladder: up to 35, 46 and 71 miles. Real riding always comes in under the claimed figures, and we cover why in our piece on real world Sur-Ron miles in 2026.

Who is the Hyper Bee for?

Younger riders, smaller adults, and anyone who wants a proper electric dirt bike without the intimidation. At 39 kg it lifts into a van easily, and the 665 mm seat suits a rider who cannot flat-foot a Light Bee X.

The safety kit is the clever part. SAWC is an anti-wheelie with three levels plus off, so it holds the front wheel down instead of helping it come up. A parental remote with intercom cuts the power from up to 300 m away, and there is a magnetic wrist-strap kill switch and gyroscope tilt protection. The 58V 22Ah battery swaps single-handed in ten seconds, no tools.

The honest downside: 8 kW and 40 mph is plenty for a beginner and a bit tame for a heavy adult who already rides. If that is you, skip it. Full detail sits on the Hyper Bee product page.

Who is the Light Bee X for?

Nearly everyone else. It is our bestseller for a reason: 10 kW, 295 Nm, 50 mph, 59 kg, and a chassis that handles green lanes, tracks and farm work without complaining. The forks give 200 mm of fully adjustable travel, and the 72V 35Ah battery is removable, IP67 sealed and charges 20 to 80% in 2.15 hours.

It runs SWC wheelie assist, two levels plus off, the opposite of the Hyper Bee system, because it helps you find and hold a balance point. Our post on Sur-Ron wheelie control is worth reading first, because people mix the two up constantly.

Downside: at 830 mm the seat is tall for shorter riders, and there is no getting round 59 kg in deep mud. Colours and full spec sit on the Light Bee X product page.

Who is the Ultra Bee HP X for?

Riders with real off-road miles behind them. 24.5 kW, 520 Nm and 0 to 31 mph in 1.84 seconds. The 74V 60Ah battery charges 20 to 80% in 2.5 hours on the 1000W charger. With 315 mm of ground clearance and 240 mm of fork travel it eats terrain that stops the smaller bikes, and it has six modes including Crawl, Reverse and Turbo.

Downside: 88.5 kg and a 910 mm seat. It is a lot of bike, and a first-timer spends a month scared of the throttle instead of enjoying it. Our Ultra Bee HP X review goes deeper.

What do they cost in 2026?

At the time of writing the Hyper Bee starts from £2,499, the Light Bee X from £3,299 for 2026 UK stock, and the Ultra Bee HP X from £5,599. You may also see a Light Bee X at £3,199, which is one remaining 2025 Green unit rather than a 2026 price. On the Hyper Bee and the Ultra Bee HP X, UK warehouse stock sits slightly above the China warehouse price, so waiting saves a little. On the Light Bee X both warehouses run £3,299 to £3,499, so waiting saves nothing.

So which one should you buy?

The Sur-Ron comparison 2026 nearly always comes down to height and experience before budget. Sort those two out, then look at the price.

  • Under about 5ft 6in, or buying for a teenager. Hyper Bee, almost every time.
  • First proper electric dirt bike, average adult build. Light Bee X. It is the safe pick and it holds its value well.
  • Already ride motocross or enduro. Ultra Bee HP X. Nothing smaller will keep you interested.
  • Farm or estate work. Light Bee X for most jobs, Ultra Bee HP X if the ground is genuinely rough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Sur-Ron is best for a beginner in 2026?

The Light Bee X for most adults, the Hyper Bee for smaller or younger riders. Both are far easier to live with than the Ultra Bee HP X. Our guide on which Sur-Ron a beginner should buy goes further.

Is the Ultra Bee HP X too much for a first bike?

For most people, yes. 24.5 kW and 88.5 kg is a handful if you have never ridden off road. With a motocross background it is fine, and Eco and Crawl modes give you somewhere gentle to start.

What is the difference between SWC and SAWC?

SWC on the Light Bee X and Ultra Bee HP X is a wheelie assist that helps lift and hold the front. SAWC on the Hyper Bee is an anti-wheelie that keeps the front down for less experienced riders. Same letters, opposite jobs.

Are any of these three road legal in the UK?

No. All three are off-road only in stock form and are not type-approved for public roads, so you need private land or the landowner's permission. There is more in our UK road legal guide, and if restricted road-legal options interest you, get in touch.

How quickly can I get one?

UK warehouse bikes arrive in 2 to 3 working days when we have that colour in stock, fully built and PDI checked. China warehouse orders take 40 to 60 days from the factory.
