Sur-Ron Range in 2026: Real-World Miles Per Charge

Short answer: On paper a 2026 Hyper Bee does up to 35 miles, a Light Bee X up to 46 miles and an Ultra Bee HP X up to 71 miles. Ride any of them properly off-road and most people see roughly half of the claimed figure, which is completely normal.

Sur-Ron range 2026 is the thing buyers ask us about most, and the honest answer takes more than one number. Every claimed range comes from a steady speed on flat ground with a light rider, and your Sunday in the woods looks nothing like that. Here is what the batteries really give you and what you can do about it.

What does Sur-Ron range 2026 actually mean on a real ride?

Sur-Ron quotes range at a fixed cruising speed. The Light Bee X figure of 46 miles is measured at 25 mph, and the Ultra Bee HP X figure of 71 miles is measured at 31 mph. Nobody rides a trail at a locked speed. You accelerate, you brake, you climb, you sit still chatting to your mates with the bike awake.

Treat the claimed number as a best case. As a rule of thumb we tell people to plan for about half of it on hard off-road riding, and about seventy per cent on gentle green lanes or slow estate work. That way you never end up pushing a heavy bike back to the van.

How far does each 2026 Sur-Ron go per charge?

  • Hyper Bee. 58V 22Ah pack, up to 35 miles at a steady 25 mph. In real trail use expect somewhere near 18 to 25 miles. It is a light bike at 39 kg, which helps, but it is also the smallest battery of the three.
  • Light Bee X. 72V 35Ah, 2.5 kWh, up to 46 miles. Mixed riding usually lands around 22 to 32 miles. Sport mode and full throttle work will pull that down, Eco mode and smooth riding will push it up.
  • Ultra Bee HP X. 74V 60Ah, up to 71 miles. This is the big one, and even ridden hard it will normally give 35 to 50 miles. It is also the heaviest at 88.5 kg and the fastest, so heavy right wrists cost more here.

Those Sur-Ron range 2026 figures are ours, from UK ground, not a factory promise. Our older piece on how far a Sur-Ron goes when you actually test it covers the method we use.

Five things that decide your real miles

  • Speed. This is the big one. Air resistance climbs fast, so the last 10 mph costs far more than the first 10 mph. If you spend the day near the top speed of your model, expect the range to drop sharply.
  • Terrain. Mud, sand, deep grass and long climbs all make the motor work harder. A boggy field can halve your miles compared with a hardpack track.
  • Rider weight and kit. A 60 kg teenager and a 100 kg adult in full armour will get very different numbers from the same bike.
  • Temperature. Lithium cells do not like the cold. A frosty January morning can cost you 10 to 20 per cent until the pack warms up.
  • Tyre pressure. Soft tyres give grip but eat range. If you are doing a long day, a few extra psi makes a genuine difference.

Do the riding modes really change range?

Yes, and more than most people expect. The Light Bee X has Sport and Eco modes with three throttle levels and five levels of regen. The Ultra Bee HP X runs Eco, Daily, Sport, Crawl, Reverse and Turbo, plus five-level coasting regen and five-level braking regen. The Hyper Bee has three modes and its own F1, F2 and F3 throttle curves with six regen settings.

Softening the throttle curve does not slow the bike down, it just smooths how quickly power arrives, and that alone can win you several miles over a day. Turning up regen recovers a little energy on descents too, and it saves your brakes.

How long does a charge take?

All three charge from 20 to 80 per cent quickly. The Hyper Bee takes about 2 hours, the Light Bee X about 2.15 hours and the Ultra Bee HP X about 2.5 hours on its 1000W charger through the new smart charging port. Every pack is removable, so you can carry it indoors and charge in the warm.

Charging costs pennies compared with petrol. Our Sur-Ron charging guide breaks down the cost, the timings and the safety basics, and the 2026 battery explainer covers why the 72V and 74V packs behave differently.

Can you carry a spare battery?

You can, and plenty of riders do. Every 2026 pack is removable, and the Hyper Bee goes further with its S-S Lock quick release, which swaps a pack single handed in about ten seconds with no tools. That is useful for a family with one bike and two kids taking turns.

A spare is not cheap, so be honest about how often you actually run flat. Many riders find that throttle discipline and a mid-ride top up at the van solve it for free. Looking after the pack matters too, and our guide to making a Sur-Ron battery last years is worth ten minutes.

Which 2026 Sur-Ron is best if range is your priority?

For most UK riders, the Light Bee X from £3,199 at the time of writing is the sweet spot of range, weight and price. The Hyper Bee from £2,499 at the time of writing is the lightest and the friendliest for younger or newer riders, and its shorter range rarely matters because those riders take more breaks anyway. All three are off-road only in stock form and are not type-approved for UK public roads.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far will a Sur-Ron go on one charge?

Roughly 18 to 50 real world miles depending on the model and how you ride. Claimed figures are up to 35 miles for the Hyper Bee, 46 for the Light Bee X and 71 for the Ultra Bee HP X.

Does cold weather reduce Sur-Ron range?

Yes. Cold cells hold less usable energy, so a winter ride can cost you 10 to 20 per cent until things warm up. Storing the battery indoors and charging it in the warm helps a lot.

Can I fit a bigger battery for more miles?

Some riders do, but non-standard packs and controllers can affect your warranty cover. Ask us before you buy anything.

How many years will a Sur-Ron battery last?

With sensible charging habits, several years of regular riding. Avoid storing it fully empty or fully full for months, keep it dry and let it cool before charging after a hard session.

Does riding two-up or towing affect range?

These bikes are single seaters and are not built for towing. Extra weight of any kind, including a heavy rucksack, shortens your miles noticeably.

Still not sure which one suits your riding?

Tell us where you ride, how long you are usually out and who else will be riding the bike, and we will give you a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. Have a look at the 2026 Sur-Ron range, drop us a line at contact@tractionbikes.co.uk, or come and see us in person. The kettle is always on.
