The 2026 Sur-Ron Range: What Changed on Every Model
Short answer: the 2026 Sur-Ron range is still the same three bikes, but each one now carries smarter rider aids and better electronics. The Ultra Bee HP X moved the furthest, the Hyper Bee gained the most kit for the money, and the Light Bee X stays the sensible middle pick.
We run a Sur-Ron dealership, so this is the question we field most in late summer. People want to know if the model year badge is marketing or if the bike in the crate is genuinely different. Here is the honest version.
What actually changed across the 2026 Sur-Ron range?
The theme for 2026 is control. Sur-Ron spent the year on software and safety kit, not headline power. That sounds boring until you ride one. A bike that puts its torque down cleanly feels faster than one that spins up and scares you.
- Rider aids are standard. Every 2026 bike has gyroscope based tilt protection, with automatic motor cutoff on the Hyper Bee, plus a wheelie system.
- Telemetry on two of the three. T-Box sits on the Hyper Bee and the Ultra Bee HP X, alongside a Bluetooth dashboard.
- Charging is quick. All three go from 20 to 80% in two to two and a half hours, and the Ultra Bee HP X uses a 1000W charger.
- Still off-road only. Nothing here is type-approved for UK public roads in stock form, and we will not pretend otherwise.
2026 Sur-Ron Light Bee X: refined, not reinvented
The Light Bee X is still our best seller, and 2026 has not messed with the recipe. Peak power is 10 kW, torque at the wheel is 295 Nm, and top speed is 50 mph. It gets to 31 mph in 2.5 seconds, quick enough to make a grown adult giggle inside a helmet.
The 72V 35Ah battery is 2.5 kWh, removable, IP67 rated and good for 50G of shock. Range is up to 46 miles, though as we cover in our piece on real world Sur-Ron range, how you ride matters more than the spec sheet. Kerb weight is 59 kg, seat height 830 mm.
For 2026 the interesting bits are electronic: SWC wheelie assist with two levels plus off, five levels of regen, three throttle levels, and an Emergency Brake Alert tail light that strobes under heavy braking. Colours are White, Black, Purple and Green.

2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee: the biggest value jump
The Hyper Bee is the little one, and for 2026 it is stacked. Peak power is 8 kW, torque is 185 Nm and top speed is 40 mph. Kerb weight is only 39 kg, the number that sells it to parents and smaller riders. The 58V 22Ah battery uses an S-S Lock quick release: tool-free, single-handed, ten seconds to swap. Seat height adjusts across three positions, 665 to 705 mm, so the bike grows with the rider.
- SAWC anti-wheelie, three levels plus off. This keeps the front wheel down, the opposite of what the bigger bikes do, and it is the best feature here for a nervous first-timer.
- Parental remote with intercom. Up to 300 m of range, with a one-touch emergency power-off. You can talk to your kid and you can stop the bike.
- Wrist-strap magnetic kill switch. Rider comes off, power dies.
- Protection as standard. Full upper and lower chain guards, body pads, and a free OEM torque wrench tool kit with the MY26 bikes.
2026 Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP X: the one that moved furthest
The Ultra Bee HP X is the flagship and it is a serious machine. Peak power is 24.5 kW in Turbo and 21.5 kW in Sport, torque is 520 Nm at the wheel and top speed is 68 mph. The 74V 60Ah removable battery is good for up to 71 miles at a steady 31 mph.
Suspension is fully adjustable at both ends, with 240 mm of front fork travel and 315 mm of ground clearance. Seat height is 910 mm, so shorter riders should sit on one first. Six modes: Eco, Daily, Sport, Crawl, Reverse and Turbo, plus Auto Hold, ASR and T-Box telemetry. We went deeper in our write-up of the 2026 Ultra Bee battery and power changes.

SWC and SAWC do opposite jobs
The two acronyms look almost identical and do opposite things.
SWC is wheelie assist, on the Light Bee X and the Ultra Bee HP X. A gyroscope reads pitch and the controller manages power so you can lift the front to a balance point and hold it. Sur-Ron recommends switching it off before you jump.
SAWC is anti-wheelie, and it only appears on the Hyper Bee. It keeps the front wheel planted, with three levels plus off. It is aimed at younger riders, because an unplanned wheelie is how confidence gets lost.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 2026 Sur-Ron range road legal in the UK?
No. All three are off-road only in stock form and not type-approved for UK public roads. A separate road-legal Light Bee X LE1 exists as a restricted L1e moped, so if that is what you are after, get in touch. Our guide to Sur-Ron road legality in the UK covers the detail.
Which 2026 Sur-Ron is fastest?
The Ultra Bee HP X, at 68 mph. The Light Bee X does 50 mph and the Hyper Bee does 40 mph. There is a full breakdown in our Sur-Ron top speed guide for every model.
Should I buy the 2026 model or an older one?
If the rider is young or new to two wheels, the 2026 bikes earn their money on rider aids alone. If you are experienced and on a budget, a good used bike still makes sense, provided you check the VIN, avoid unverified private sellers and buy from someone who will support you afterwards.
Do 2026 Sur-Ron bikes work with the Sur-Ron app?
The Sur-Ron app is not available on UK-region bikes. The T-Box telemetry and Bluetooth dashboard both work, so you are not missing the important parts.
Which 2026 Sur-Ron should a first-time rider buy?
Most first-timers are happiest on the Hyper Bee or the Light Bee X. Our three-way model comparison walks through height, weight and riding style so you pick once and pick right.
Still not sure which one is yours?
Pick the bike, not the badge. Tell us the rider's height, their experience and where they will ride, and we will say honestly which of the three fits, including when the answer is the cheaper one. Have a look through the full Sur-Ron range, then message or ring us. If you are local, come and see the bikes in person. The kettle is always on.
