Light Bee X vs Ultra Bee HP X: Which 2026 Sur-Ron?
Short answer: the Light Bee X is the lighter, friendlier and cheaper bike, and it is the right call for most UK riders. The Ultra Bee HP X is the big one, with more than twice the peak power, far more range and a full-size motocross riding position for taller or faster riders.
We run a Sur-Ron dealership, so the Light Bee X vs Ultra Bee HP X question lands in our inbox most days. Both are superb, but they are very different tools, and buying the wrong one is an expensive mistake. Here is how we talk it through in the workshop.
Light Bee X vs Ultra Bee HP X: the headline numbers
Specs never tell the whole story, but they frame the choice. These are the live 2026 figures at the time of writing.
| Spec | Light Bee X | Ultra Bee HP X |
|---|---|---|
| Peak power | 10 kW | 24.5 kW Turbo |
| Torque at the wheel | 295 Nm | 520 Nm |
| Top speed | 50 mph | 68 mph |
| 0 to 31 mph | 2.5 s | 1.84 s |
| Battery | 72V 35Ah, 2.5 kWh | 74V 60Ah |
| Claimed range | Up to 46 miles | Up to 71 miles |
| Kerb weight | 59 kg | 88.5 kg |
| Seat height | 830 mm | 910 mm |
| Ground clearance | 270 mm | 315 mm |
| Price from | £3,199 | £5,599 |
The rows that decide it for most people are not the power figures. They are seat height and kerb weight.
How different do they actually feel to ride?
The Light Bee X feels like a very fast mountain bike that has been to the gym. You can throw it about, pick a line late, and lift it out of a rut without help. Total beginners are usually grinning within ten minutes.
The Ultra Bee HP X feels like a motocross bike. It is taller, longer and heavier, and it rewards proper technique rather than enthusiasm alone. Once you are stood up and committed it is superb, and the extra clearance carries you over ruts that would stop the smaller bike.
- Suspension. Both are fully adjustable. The Light Bee X gets 200 mm of fork travel, the Ultra Bee HP X gets 240 mm and a longer 1,380 mm wheelbase, so it settles at speed.
- Modes. The Light Bee X keeps it simple with Sport and Eco. The Ultra Bee HP X adds Daily, Crawl, Reverse and Turbo, and Crawl alone earns its place on a steep climb.
- Wheelie control. Both use SWC, a wheelie assist rather than a limiter, as we explain in our guide to Sur-Ron wheelie control and how SWC works.

Which one fits your body and your riding spot?
This is the honest gatekeeper. The Ultra Bee HP X has a 910 mm seat height. If you are under about 5 ft 9 in you will be tiptoeing, and 88.5 kg is a lot of bike to catch when it starts to fall. The Light Bee X sits at 830 mm and 59 kg, which most adults can flat-foot or very nearly.
Where you ride matters just as much. Tight woodland and small paddocks flatter the Light Bee X, because you spend your time turning rather than accelerating. Open fields, estate tracks and proper MX loops are where the Ultra Bee HP X earns its money. Be honest about the ground you have before you commit.
Range and charging: how far do they really go?
The claimed figures are up to 46 miles for the Light Bee X and up to 71 miles for the Ultra Bee HP X, both at a steady cruise. Real riding is nothing like that. Ride hard in Sport or Turbo and expect roughly half the claimed number, sometimes less on heavy going.
Even halved, the bigger 74V 60Ah pack buys the Ultra Bee HP X a longer day out. Charging is close either way: 20 to 80% in about 2.15 hours on the Light Bee X, and about 2.5 hours on the Ultra Bee HP X with its 1000W charger. There are proper numbers in our piece on real-world Sur-Ron range in 2026.
Both packs lift out for indoor charging, handy if the bike lives in a shed or a van. Be ready for the weight though, because the 60Ah Ultra Bee HP X pack is a serious lump to carry.

What do they cost in the UK?
At the time of writing the Light Bee X starts at £3,199, with 2026 UK warehouse stock at £3,299 for Green and £3,499 for White. The Ultra Bee HP X starts at £5,599, with UK warehouse bikes at £5,699 in Desert Brown or Carbon Black. UK warehouse bikes arrive in 2 to 3 working days, built and PDI checked. China warehouse orders take 40 to 60 days. That saves a little on the Ultra Bee HP X at £5,599, but Light Bee X pricing is the same either way, £3,299 to £3,499.
So which should you buy?
Buy the Sur-Ron Light Bee X if you are new to off-road, under about 5 ft 9 in, riding tight ground, sharing the bike around, or watching the budget. It is our bestseller for good reason, and the full write-up is in our honest Light Bee X review.
Buy the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP X if you have ridden before, you are tall enough for the seat, you have open ground, and you want a bike that keeps pulling long after the Light Bee X runs out of top end. Our 2026 Ultra Bee HP X review goes deeper on how it behaves once the ground opens up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Ultra Bee HP X too much for a beginner?
For most beginners, yes. The power itself is manageable, because Eco and Daily tame it. The problem is the 910 mm seat and 88.5 kg to hold up when you stall on a slope. Learn on a Light Bee X and move up later.
Can I ride either of them on the road?
No. In stock form both the Light Bee X and the Ultra Bee HP X are off-road only and are not type-approved for UK public roads. They are for private land with the landowner's permission, or a track that welcomes electric bikes.
Which one holds its value better?
The Light Bee X has the deeper second-hand market in the UK, so it tends to sell faster. The Ultra Bee HP X holds a strong price too, but the pool of buyers at that money is smaller.
Do they use the same batteries or parts?
No. The Light Bee X runs a 72V 35Ah pack and the Ultra Bee HP X a 74V 60Ah pack, and they are not interchangeable. Tyres, chains and brake pads differ too, so order for your exact model.
