The Ultra Bee HP is the bike Sur-Ron built when they decided to take on full-size petrol enduro machines. 21 kW peak in Turbo mode, 511 N·m of torque at the wheel, hairpin motor, carbon fibre belt drive, 4.4 kWh battery. This is not a souped-up Light Bee. It is a different class of machine, built for experienced riders who want serious enduro performance without the noise or the maintenance.

Hairpin motor and Turbo mode
The HP designation refers to the hairpin-wound motor, an automotive-grade winding technology that increases copper density inside the stator. The result is a flatter peak power curve from 2,000 to 7,000 rpm, much better thermal management on long climbs, and a Turbo button that unlocks 21 kW for short bursts when you need to clear an obstacle or overtake. In normal use the bike sits at 18 kW continuous, which is already enough to embarrass most petrol enduros up to 250cc.
Belt drive that does not need maintenance
One of the smartest decisions on the Ultra Bee HP is the carbon fibre core belt with tungsten carbide-coated forged pulley. There is no chain to lube, adjust, or replace. After a wet day in the woods you hose the bike down and put it away. For a £5,899 machine that you might be riding on muddy UK trails every weekend, the maintenance saving is real money over the bike's life.
Range that lets you go all day
The 4.4 kWh battery (74 V, 60 Ah) is the largest on any Sur-Ron and gives this bike genuine all-day range. 115 km on the WMTC cycle, 70 to 80 km on enthusiastic mixed-terrain riding, and even 50 km if you are pinned in Sport mode the entire time. The 1.1 kW Level 3 charger fast-charges the pack in ~2.5 hours from 20 to 80 percent, so a lunch stop genuinely refills the tank.
Six ride modes including Crawl and Reverse
Eco, Daily, Sports, Crawl, Reverse and Turbo. The Crawl mode is three-stage adjustable and is exceptional for technical hill climbs and rocky going where you want absolute throttle precision. Reverse will get you out of trouble when you have nosed into a ditch you cannot push back out of. Turbo is the headline-grabber but Crawl is the mode you will actually use most.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP road legal in the UK?
No. The HP is the off-road model and is not type-approved for UK public roads. A road-legal Ultra Bee variant with indicators, mirrors and number plate lighting exists separately. The HP cannot easily be converted to road-legal because that requires the full IVA approval process. Use the HP only on private land or designated off-road sites.
Ultra Bee HP vs standard Ultra Bee: what is the difference?
The HP gets the new hairpin-wound motor (21 kW peak vs 12.5 kW on the original Ultra Bee), a larger 60 Ah battery (vs 55 Ah), the carbon belt primary drive (vs chain), upgraded brakes with 90 percent more caliper rigidity, and gold-finished forks with adjustable compression and rebound. It is roughly a generation ahead of the original Ultra Bee in every meaningful spec.
Can a beginner ride the Ultra Bee HP?
We do not recommend it. The 909 mm seat height, 88.5 kg weight, 21 kW peak power and 95 km/h top speed make this a bike for experienced riders. If you have not ridden a full-size enduro before, start with the Light Bee X. Our staff can talk through the right bike for your experience level if you call us.
How does the carbon belt drive hold up in mud and water?
Better than chain. The belt is sealed against the tungsten carbide-coated pulley and does not require lubrication. After a wet day you can hose the bike down and put it away. Replacement intervals are far longer than a chain and sprocket set. The trade-off is that aftermarket sprocket changes for gearing tweaks are not as straightforward as on a chain bike.
What is the real-world range?
The 115 km WMTC figure is steady cruising. In genuine UK enduro use, expect 70 to 80 km on enthusiastic mixed riding, 50 km on sustained Sport-mode pace, and over 100 km if you are riding gently in Eco. The 1.1 kW Level 3 charger means a 2.5 hour lunch stop refills 20 to 80 percent of the pack.
What finance options are available?
We offer Payitmonthly finance at checkout. You can spread the cost of your bike over up to 12 months at 0% APR, at no extra cost and subject to status. Choose Payitmonthly as your payment method at checkout and complete a short application. Final approval depends on the lender's credit decision.
How long does delivery take?
For UK warehouse models, delivery usually arrives within around 3 working days. We can typically have the bike collected by our courier the next working day after you order, and delivered the working day after that. Delivery times are estimates and occasional delays can happen. China warehouse bikes usually take around 60 days from order, and may occasionally take a little longer if delays occur.
Can I connect this bike to the Sur-Ron app?
Our bikes cannot be connected to the Sur-Ron app due to technical limitations with product regions. This does not change the functionality of the bike, as the app is not needed for using the bike as usual.
The 2026 Sur-Ron Ultra Bee is a proper update. Not a sticker pack. A bigger 24.5 kW motor, a higher-capacity 74 V / 60 Ah battery, 520 Nm at the wheel, and a brand new SWC (Sur-Ron Wheelie Control) that lets you pull a clean, controlled wheelie even if you have never done one before. Two new colourways: Desert Brown and Carbon Black. Everything that made the previous Ultra Bee the most capable Sur-Ron is still here. Sur-Ron just turned the dials up.

What is new for 2026
If you already own a 2024 or 2025 Ultra Bee, the 2026 jump is real:
- 24.5 kW maximum power motor, up from around 22.5 kW on the previous model. A 9% bump on paper, more noticeable than that on the bike.
- 74 V / 60 Ah lithium battery, a step up from the outgoing pack. Longer range, less voltage sag under heavy load.
- 520 Nm of maximum torque at the wheel (up from 511 Nm). Climbing torque and out-of-corner pull both stronger.
- SWC (Sur-Ron Wheelie Control), brand new for 2026. Gyroscope-driven wheelie ASSIST: roll on the throttle and the bike lifts the front to a controlled balance point and holds it for you. Essentially auto-wheelie for beginners.
- Two new colourways: Desert Brown and Carbon Black. Both proper paint finishes, not vinyl wraps.
- Class-leading basics carried over: around 85 kg kerb weight, ~68 mph top speed, hydraulic discs, DNM suspension, hairpin motor, carbon belt drive.
24.5 kW: what the extra power feels like
On paper the jump from roughly 22.5 kW to 24.5 kW is modest. On the bike it is not. The new Ultra Bee pulls harder from the moment you crack the throttle. The mid-range is where you notice it most. Out of corners, up steep climbs, when you are already moving and asking for more, the 2026 bike just delivers.
Sur-Ron has kept the controller behaviour smooth, which matters. A peakier motor without smoothing would make the Ultra Bee twitchy. Instead, the new bike rolls on power cleanly. You can ride it with one finger on the brake and your wrist relaxed.
For taller and heavier riders this is the bike you have been waiting for. The previous Ultra Bee was already capable of moving 90+ kg riders briskly. The MY26 update makes climbs and acceleration noticeably easier. If you have ridden the older bike and felt it tail off above 50 mph, the new motor pulls through that zone with more authority.
74 V / 60 Ah battery: longer range, harder hits
Two things happen when you make a battery bigger on this kind of bike. First, range goes up. Second, the bike sags less under heavy load. The motor can ask for big amps from a fuller pack without the voltage dropping off a cliff. That means the back end of a long ride feels closer to the front end. The bike does not feel tired with two bars left.
A 55 Ah Ultra Bee was already good for a proper trail day with a charger in the van. The 60 Ah pack takes that further. Expect closer to a full session before you need to plug in if you are riding mixed terrain at a sensible pace.
The charging setup is the same usable garage-friendly system. Plug it in overnight on a standard UK 13 A socket and the pack is full by morning. A 1.1 kW Level 3 charger refills 20 to 80% in roughly 2.5 hours.
520 Nm of torque: where it makes the difference
520 Nm of maximum torque at the wheel is a big number on a bike this light. For context, this is a sub-90 kg dirt bike. The Ultra Bee will tractor up climbs that would have a 450cc petrol bike spinning and bouncing.
Where you feel it most:
- Technical climbs: the bike walks up rooty, stepped sections you would normally need to launch at.
- Tight singletrack: roll on out of a bend in any mode and the bike just goes.
- Soft ground: mud, sand, and loose gravel become a traction problem rather than a power problem.
- Recovery: if you bog down, a gentle throttle pull is usually enough to get moving again.
This is the part that converts petrol riders. Once you have ridden an Ultra Bee up something gnarly without any clutch work, gear shifting, or stalling drama, going back to a kick-start two-stroke feels like hard work.
SWC (Sur-Ron Wheelie Control) explained
This is the most interesting addition on the MY26 Ultra Bee. Important to be clear: SWC is a wheelie ASSIST system, not an anti-wheelie. The on-board gyroscope reads the bike's pitch angle and the controller manages power so the front comes up smoothly to a controlled balance point and stays there. You ride the wheelie with the throttle rather than fighting it with your weight.
In practice, SWC does two things:
- Helps beginners learn wheelies safely: roll on the throttle and the bike does most of the work. Front comes up, sits at the right angle, holds there until you ease off. No more sketchy weight transfers, no more nervous launches. Just learn the throttle feel.
- Lets experienced riders show off without working at it: even on a 520 Nm bike, holding a proper wheelie at speed takes practice. SWC takes the wobble out so the wheelie looks clean every time.
SWC is essentially "auto-wheelie" for the people who have always wanted to learn but never had a safe way in. Set it up, pick your level, roll the throttle. Newer riders will avoid binning the bike teaching themselves. Experienced riders will use it for the showpiece moments. You can turn it off entirely from the dashboard if you would rather ride without electronic assistance.
Quick note for anyone confusing the acronyms: SWC (on Light Bee X and Ultra Bee) is the opposite of SAWC (on the Hyper Bee, which keeps the front DOWN for younger learners). Different acronym, different job.
Hairpin motor and the six ride modes
The HP-designation hairpin motor carries over from the previous Ultra Bee Pro. Automotive-grade winding technology, higher copper density inside the stator, flatter peak power curve from 2,000 to 7,000 rpm, much better thermal management on long climbs. The new 24.5 kW peak just gives that motor more headroom on the top end.
Six ride modes are selectable from the dashboard: Eco, Daily, Sports, Crawl (three-stage adjustable, for technical climbs and rocky going), Reverse (gets you out of trouble when you have nosed into a ditch) and Turbo (the burst-power mode that unlocks the full 24.5 kW). Crawl is the mode most experienced riders use day to day. Turbo is the showpiece.
Belt drive that does not need maintenance
The carbon fibre core belt with tungsten carbide-coated forged pulley carries over from the Ultra Bee Pro. There is no chain to lube, adjust, or replace. After a wet day in the woods you hose the bike down and put it away. For a six-thousand-pound machine that you might be riding on muddy UK trails every weekend, the maintenance saving is real money over the bike's life.
Desert Brown and Carbon Black
The 2026 Ultra Bee comes in two new colourways:
- Sur-Ron Ultra Bee Desert Brown: a warm matte brown finish that looks brilliant in the dirt. Less harsh than black, less shouty than the bright colours. Hides dust well, which is more useful than it sounds.
- Sur-Ron Ultra Bee Carbon Black: a dark, low-key satin black. Stealthy. Looks particularly good with the black anodised wheels and the carbon-effect side panels.
Both are proper paint finishes, not sticker kits. They wear well and they photograph well. Stock moves quickly on the new colourways. Get in touch on WhatsApp if you have a preference and we will reserve one for you.

Frequently asked questions
How is the 2026 Ultra Bee different to the previous model?
24.5 kW peak power (up from ~22.5 kW), 520 Nm torque (up from 511 Nm), 74 V / 60 Ah battery (step up from the outgoing 55 Ah pack), new SWC wheelie-assist (helps you do controlled wheelies as a beginner), and two new colourways (Desert Brown, Carbon Black). The chassis, hairpin motor architecture, carbon belt drive and DNM suspension carry over from the previous Ultra Bee Pro.
Should I buy the 2025 or the 2026 Ultra Bee?
Buy the 2026 if you ride long sessions and want the bigger battery, if you are a heavier or taller rider and want the extra mid-range, if you are still learning and the wheelie control would save you bruises, or if you want one of the new Desert Brown / Carbon Black colourways. Buy the 2025 if your priority is value and the existing battery range already covers your sessions. Both bikes share the same chassis, hairpin motor architecture and belt drive.
What is SWC (Sur-Ron Wheelie Control)?
A wheelie ASSIST system. An onboard gyroscope reads the bike's pitch angle and the controller manages power so the front comes up to a controlled balance point and holds there. Essentially auto-wheelie for riders who have never done one. You roll on the throttle, the bike helps the front up, you hold the wheelie with the throttle, ease off to set down. Adjustable from the dashboard and can be turned off entirely. Important: SWC (Light Bee X + Ultra Bee) is the opposite of SAWC on the Hyper Bee, which keeps the front DOWN for younger learners.
Is the 2026 Ultra Bee road legal in the UK?
The standard Ultra Bee HP is off-road only and not type-approved for UK public roads in stock form. A road-legal Ultra Bee variant does exist, with full IVA approval, indicators, mirrors, number plate lighting and type-approval documentation. We source and supply it. Get in touch on WhatsApp or at contact@tractionbikes.co.uk to discuss availability and lead time.
What is the real-world range?
Expect close to a full trail day on the 60 Ah pack at a sensible mixed-terrain pace. Pinned in Sports or Turbo for the entire session you will see less. Crawl mode and tight technical riding sip energy. As a guide, a confident rider on enthusiastic singletrack typically gets 70 to 80 km on a charge. WMTC-cycle range is around 115 km.
